The mural in downtown Kirklin is a nod to the history of Kirklin. Where the Monon Railroad used to run through Kirklin and was known as an outpost for fur trading. In addition to the historical poster there are life-sized people along the bottom who represent current day members of the community. We made the people life-sized so that visitors could stop and take selfies and share the wonderful town of Kirklin. In addition we wanted to make the mural interactive so the artists added a scavenger hunt for kids to do within the mural itself. Eventually we will add more to the scavenger hunt throughout the town, making it a fun activity for kids of all ages.
The mural was created by Daniel Mann and he was assisted in the painting by artist Ashlyn Sloan. |
